Placement Test
PLACEMENT TEST FOR ENTERING 6TH GRADERS, 2016-2017:
The placement test will be given TBA at TBA beginning in Burrill Hall.
Students will be assigned to different rooms to take their test. The test should take between 45-60 minutes. Because of the new standards, we may add additional topics not listed below. Visit the California Department of Education website to view the standards that are prerequisites for 8th grade math; your child should be able to demonstrate mastery of most Grade 6-7 Common Core State Standards.
Topics to be covered:
- Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide Integers, Fractions, and Decimals
- Compare Fractions and Decimals
- Convert Percent into Decimals and Decimals into Percent
- Convert Fractions into Percent
- Percent of a Number
- GCF (Greatest Common Factor), LCM (Least Common Multiple)
- Order of Operation
- Simplify, Evaluate and Write Expressions
- Solve Equations
- Solve Proportions
- Scale-Drawings
- Area, Perimeter, Volume
- Discount
- Circumference of Circle
