Curriculum

Millikan Math Academy is an "Alternate Accelerated" common core pathway; A 3 year curriculum that programs students in ALL HIGH HONORS. ACADETv11C5 courses. It is designed for students, who excel in mathematics and are above grade level in Mathematics and wish to advance their content understanding through games, projects and problem solving through cooperative and independent.

PROBLEM OF THE WEEK' (POW) format. POW enrich conceptual understanding of the standards and logical reasoning.

Students will follow the following Curriculum;

6th Grade —Accelerated Math 7/Math 8/Common Core 6

7th Grade '— CC Algebra and Common Core 7

8th Grade — CC Geometry and CCS

REQUIREMENTS

Completed Application. See our page on the Application.
Completion of the Math Placement test will be given TBA at TBA beginning in Burrill Hall.
No D's, F's or U's in all courses.

Other characteristics: ability to work. in group settings., leadership potential, verbally articulate.

Other Information: All Academy courses are scheduled during Math period and homeroom. Students are able to take an elective. All students will travel together as a core to all HIGH HONORS ACADEMIC COURSES

Millikan Math Academy students enjoy extra-curricular field trips and community events that enhance their classroom skill acquisition and encourage leadership and team-building.

Cabrillo Marine Museum

Catalina Island Marine Institute

Knott's Berry Farm Physics trip
